Belts & Hoses

A vehicle has many different belts, like the timing belt and serpentine belt, and hoses, including radiator hoses and heater hoses. Many vehicles' belts and hoses are made of rubber and can wear out with age, temperature changes, fluid corrosion and other environmental elements. Belts and hoses should be inspected regularly for wear. Belts and hoses play a crucial role in your vehicle. They are responsible for vital systems to work within the cooling system, A/C system, charging, and engine. You can trust our team to perform thorough inspections of your vehicle's belts and hoses when it is in the shop to determine if a replacement is necessary. Long term? Routine preventative maintenance and replacements of your vehicle’s belts and hoses will prevent breakdowns and costly repairs in the future.
Belts and hoses have one of the shortest life spans compared to other parts of your car. They are exposed to engine heat, vehicle vibrations, and harmful chemicals, constantly and all have the potential to cause leaks and cracks. Think your belts and hoses are nearing failure? Squeaking, screeching, or grinding noises that begin when starting your engine or appear during vehicle operation are some symptoms to watch out for. All keep an eye out for illuminated dashboard lights, rising steam from the engine, and the A/C not working. While preventative maintenance is always important, the hot months are especially important to keep an eye under the hood due to increased summer temperatures, which will speed up the break down of all rubber parts. Since belts and hoses can be hard to get a good look at, be sure to follow your manufacturer’s recommendations for scheduled maintenance.

Heater hose replacement

Heater Hose Replacement

Approximate Time: 60 Minutes
Heater hoses are a vital part in a vehicle’s heating system, which operates alongside the cooling system. Engines produce an incredible amount of heat that will need to be moved away from the engine to prevent overheating and related breakdowns. It's the heater hoses job to let the coolant flow freely to prevent that overheating. Coolant or antifreeze moves about the engine, soaking up the overwhelming heat, and transfers the heat away from the engine.
Radiator Hose Replacement

Radiator Hose Replacement

Approximate Time: 60 Minutes
The radiator hoses on your vehicle connect the engine to the radiator. Regular internal engine temperatures are maintained by these important pieces. The upper hose connects to the bottom of the engine and the lower hose connects to the top. The coolant in the engine works to lower the temperature, along with the hoses. Hot coolant flows away from the engine and into the radiator through radiator hoses, a large tank with small channels where the coolant flows to dissipate heat. Radiator fans, located behind the radiator, help cool the antifreeze or coolant once it enters. The coolant is carried back into the engine by the radiator hoses to absorb the heat created during the combustion process. The hot coolant cycles back to the radiator where it is cooled again once the engine reaches operating temperatures. The coolant is often extremely hot because the engine can reach extreme temperatures. The inside of radiator hoses can deteriorate over time from the hot coolant.
Serpentine belt replacement

Serpentine Belt Replacement

Approximate Time: 60 Minutes
The serpentine belt powers peripheral processes in the engine compartment, like the power steering pump, water pump, cooling fan, air conditioner, and alternator, as the timing belt synchronizes engine processes. Its name derived from the snake-like path it takes through the various steering and electrical components it powers, the serpentine belt is an essential part of many cars. Serpentine belt maintenance is also important role in belt tension. A belt that is tensioned properly helps to promote a long belt life while also making sure that all components are not overloaded or strained during operation. Every manufacturer projects a natural life for serpentine belts; even though they are tough and built to sustain years of continued and heavy use. Though replacing your serpentine belt is a natural part of overall car maintenance, periodic inspections of your belt will help prevent breakdowns. If you have any trouble with your serpentine belt, please don't hesitate to give us a call or contact us for assistance.
Timing belt replacement

Timing Belt Replacement

Approximate Time: 180 Minutes
The timing belt (or timing chain in some vehicles) is a drive belt that synchronizes the rotation of the engine's crankshaft and camshaft with the opening and closing of your engine's valves. It may rotate the water pump, depending on the vehicle. The timing belt turns the camshaft when the crankshaft turns, which opens and closes the engine valves to allow the pistons to move up and down. The engine in your vehicle operates in four phases: intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust. As fuel and air enter the cylinders during the intake phase, the intake valves open and the exhaust valves close. The valves close as the air and fuel are mixed, compressed, and ignited by spark plugs during the compression and combustion phases. The remaining air and fuel is pushed out of the exhaust valve during the exhaust phase.
